Once again the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht race has taken place in Australia coming to a conclusion on the first day of the New Year with all the gaiety and glamour that has become tradition at the Royal Tasmanian Yacht Club in Sandy Point, Hobart.

So, what happened?

Two True, was declared the winner of the overall IRC handicap and Alfa Romeo received Line Honors. Many were in attendance such as the Governor and the Premier of Tasmania among many others.

Rolex was mentioned several times throughout the presentations but the main speeches of note were from Matt Allen when he thanked Rolex and said that they “could not have asked for a better partner for the race than Rolex”. Also, Andy Saies said much the same and thanked Rolex for its continued sponsorship of the race.

One man, Niklas Zennstrom was a bit upset that he missed the Rolex Trophy Rating Series as he was unable to arrive in time for the event. Perhaps he should have picked up a replica Rolex Oyster and maybe he would have been on time!

The Line Honors award at the Rolex Sydney Hobart Race was presented to Alfa Romeo which was a valiant effort.

So, once again the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race goes down in history. The Rolex company continues to support the race and let’s face it the race could not go on without their support and many fake and replica manufacturers are now furiously keeping up with orders for those people who now wish to own a Rolex but are happy to buy a replica Rolex Oyster for the time being, or until such time as the economy decides to pick up at least.
